Why professional photography?

The photography perspective is different for every couple. Why are photos so important on your wedding day?  Is it just a matter of recording the day for archival purposes? or is it something more?

I believe that this "something more" is what will determine which type of photography is suited to you. My mission as a photographer is to show the viewer, you, just how magical  I see you and the events of your day.  I also believe that every moment and every person at a wedding holds a part of the spirit of the day with them. My "job" or more to the point, my pleasure is to find those moments and put it all in images to narrate the whole day.

What do we want our wedding images to be like?

We want fun and different images. We want to feel the moment again when we see our wedding photos. Are you the kind of photographer who takes all posed pictures?

I rarely pose pictures. I get right into the mood and the action as soon as I get there. My lenses are everywhere and I rarely miss a moment. Sure, there are going to be the few family photos that are necessary if only to protect the integrity of the day. There are also going to be the few staged images with the bride and groom. But it is mostly about moments and what goes through your mind at the moment. In other words, your story will be essentially carried by photojournalistic type images. See some of the galleries here

Why talk to our photographer first?

How are you co-ordinating your wedding day? Do you have a wedding planner? As a photographer I am no expert on how to decorate the reception hall or what to include in a ceremony. But I do have expertise at how long it would take to record all the different parts of the day.

The day speak for itself, the way you planned is the way the events will unfold. But how much time should you plan to photograph all the preps? Typically, the bride is the one who needs more time. The groom can also have his prep time photographed but it takes a bit less time. Also typically, the groom and groomsmen are photographed at the ceremony site about one hour before the start of the ceremony. Depending on where the ceremony is, Where the girls and the boys are getting ready, together, we customize times and locations. This is only one aspect. How long do we need for the family photos? You may need more time than was originally planned between the ceremony and the reception if you want the full bridal coverage and if there is much travel time involved. These are just some points to consider. We will talk in detail about all this at our consultation. If you have a wedding planner, it's a good idea for the photographer and the planner to have a brief meeting.

Fashion Edition?

Are you leaving right away for your honeymoon? Did you get around to those fashion type shots on the wedding day? Do you want to show off your dress and wear it again?  The brides who have experienced the Fashion Edition photo shoot, have found it very liberating, fun and could not believe our time was up. If you've always wanted photos of you that look like magazine covers, this is your chance. On the wedding day, we try to get some of those in but it's not always possible due to time constraints and especially due to the fear that something would happen to the dress. You still need to make your entrance after all...
The Fashion Edition shoot, sometimes known as the "Trash the Dress" photo shoot, is not about trashing your dress. It's more about not worrying if it does. If you did want to Trash you Dress... Not in anger but in liberation. you can have it all on "film" as we use to say. After all when are you going to wear your wedding gown again? We schedule this the day after the wedding if possible or after you get back from your honeymoon. You won't have a worry in the world. This can be done with both bride and groom if you wish.

Why do you photograph the engagement also?

Your engagement is when it really happened isn't it?  This is when you both decided you wanted to spend the rest of your life together. From then on, you became closer especially while planning your wedding. My sense of commitment as a story teller compels me to include the engagement session in a wedding. In my mind, this is when your stories became your STORY and I want to record it. The engagement photo session allows us - you two as a couple and me as your image maker - to get to know each other and to smooth things out photo wise.
From this session you will receive your enhanced proofs on disc and in a proof book and a hosted on line private gallery. See engagement samples here

What upgrades are available?

You can include an artist choice album, Thank you cards, a Fashion Edition photo shoot or increase the coverage time. You will find details in our wedding brochure

Why does the basic coverage not include the reception?

The heart of the day is in the preparation and in the moment where you promise to each other before all who you love and care about. Add a  few fun shots with the bridal party and fun and close moments with the bride & groom and the essence of the day is captured. After that, it's all fun and spontaneity and I would be pleased to capture those moments for you as well. But let's look behind the scene. For each hour of capture, there are generally 2 hours of post production work. Each additional hour is in reality 3 hours. You can add another 3 hours to cover the reception but I leave this to your discretion.
